Exeter Uni 'C' 4 Yeovil & Sherborne 'A' 1
The game at Exeter could be deemed a success. Pete 'Strimmer' Ireland played a game without getting sent to the sin bin, the weather was nice and the teas were some of the finest !!!!
On the down side was the hockey where Y & S failed to deal with the Exeter Uni penalty corner routine with 3 of the 4 goals coming from set play. The defence stood resolute from open play but all too often could not build, having gained possession. Williams as usual was dominant at the back and is a player to whom Brookes and Clarke aspire to be but between them they could not get the remainder of the team going.
An early set back when Edwards had to take a rest after the ball glanced his leg upset the equilibrium of the side. And the situation only got worse when Price almost swallowed the ball and in doing so damaged his Colgate 'Ring of confidence'!!!!!
Y & S never really got going and the few opportunities that came their way were wasted by Walters who at times could have used a sat nav to find the goal.
It was down to Price to hit the only Yeovil goal from a penalty corner and by that time it was all too late following Brookes tackle that led to the Exeter 4th goal from a penalty stroke.
Not one of our better days and so we look forward to next weekend and a home game against Torbay. |
