Match Report 1 March, YSHC D vs Sidmouth C
Playing the last league game at the Gryphon Centre Yeovil and Sherborne D took on Sidmouth C with a much changed side. After a few minutes Yeovil showed their intentions when a good move from Paul Masters and Andy Pearce put Steve Fudge through only for the Sidmouth Goalie to make a good save. It wasn't long before Yeovil's team work proved decisive when Malcolm Davidson put through to Dan Vodden who rifled his shot past the advancing keeper. Yeovil then broke quickly from defence and a good move culminated in Hamish Belding scoring Yeovils second just before half time.
In the second half Yeovil scored twice but were pulled back for earlier infringements and despite best efforts Sidmouth could not score as good defensive work from Mike Phillips, Pete Jakes, Mike Stride and Jon Stride in goal kept the opposition forwards out so that Yeovil ran out deserved winners 2-0 in a match played in a friendly atmosphere and well umpired by Will Miller and Nick Whigham.
This result means that the D team have Won 5, Drawn 1, and Lost 1, scoring 25 and conceding 8 since the beginning of 2008.

Match Report 15 March, Mid SOmerset vs YSHC D (Friendly Fixture, played at Shepton Mallet)
The mens 5th Xl travelled to play Mid Somerset 3rds and played well early in the game but a combination of good goal keeping and shots going wide from Mark Ebdon and George Lawson kept the teams level. Mids showed that they were dangerous on the break and only good defending by Mike Phillips, Ben Lound and Jon Stride in goal stopped Mids from scoring. Just before half time Mids took the lead from a well stuck goal but Yeovil replied with a well worked goal from the energetic Andy Pearce and Dan Vodden which was finished off by Steve Fudge.
In the second half Yeovil continued to push forward well with Paul Masters setting up Steve Fudge to put Yeovil ahead but Mids were awarded a penaty soon afterwards to level the score. Yeovil continued to press and a shot from Jordan Ford hit the post to deny Yeovil a win. |
