Yeovil and Sherborne D 5 Ashmoor B 1
Yeovil & Sherborne D took on a very young Ashmoor side and there was only one player over eighteen - who had to drive them all in a minibus to get to Sherborne. Yeovil started strongly and put the pressure on the young side with good work from Paul Masters and Ben Lound on the right wing. With Jonathan Powe and Steve Fudge working hard in the centre of midfield keeping the ball away from the Ashmoor midfield it was only a matter of time before the home side took the lead. They had to wait a long time for this but it came from a right wing cross, Kern Vickers' shot was saved but the rebound was flicked over the keeper by Powe. Ashmoor then started to come into the game and central defenders Pete Jakes and Barrie Izard had more work to do. A shot from a short corner was blocked on the line by Izard and a penalty flick was awarded. Jon Stride, in goal, was beaten but the flick hit his right post. Mike Pearce was put under a lot of pressure but coped well with a strong right winger. Yeovil mounted more attacks with Ashley Glover using his skills to get past the Ashmoor defence and Harry Inch was very unlucky not to score his fifth goal in five games but they couldn't add to the score.
With their nearest rivals having to play each other next week this win was enough to secure promotion for YSHC D.
